Scarlett creates hand built ceramic pieces both functional and sculptural that celebrate organic form and spontaneous expression. Each work is a unique exploration, an intuitive response to the clay’s potential and a challenge to its physical boundaries. She is drawn to textures that invite touch and to forms meant to be felt as much as seen.

Her process includes a variety of elements, creating clay models that are then enhanced in a plaster mould.  This is then followed by slip casting in a variety of porcelain and bone china materials.

This area of her practice has advanced her to creating a working relationship with the Stoke on Trent factory industry - which Scarlett is passionate in supporting.

In all her making what excites her is the endless variation inherent in ceramics each piece becomes an experiment shaped by an exchange between hand, clay, and moment.
